Josu Mämmi debuts on SURFACE as ‘Mrio’ with his Un’altra EP. It might be the most brilliant selection of compositions that we’ve had the privilege to release to this day. Lead by the magician with classical background, Un'altra takes you to an unforgettable journey filled with colours and melodic sensations. Two of Mrio’s original tracks are joined with two luminous remixes by local artists Aki Himanen and Severi Laine. ‘Un’altra’ gives the listener a wholesome experience we are proud to present as our 13th release.

What could be said about Aki Himanen's masterful interpretation of the title track ‘Un’altra’? It is difficult to even start describing this beautiful piece of musical art. The versatile jazz musician combines elements from his background as a trumpet player and a skillful producer of electronic music. The atmosphere created by this remix could be described as taking a stroll in a fantasy forest or it could very well be the score of a scene from an upcoming critically acclaimed film classic. We are thrilled to get a talent of this level to join the SURFACE artists.

When the concept of remixing these beautiful original tracks came up, naturally SURFACE’s household name Severi Laine came to mind. With a more club-like approach to Mrio’s ‘Reggette’, Severi shows his ability to fill the dance floor with the bass heavy yet soothing rework of the original. In addition to being loyal to the original track, Severi takes a more raw approach to this remix while respecting the beautiful melody composed by Josu Mämmi.
